Voices

Once upon a time,

There was a girl,

She was scared of her own skin,

She didn't want to be human,

A voice came,

Told her,

"Stop pulling at your clothes"

"Stop adjusting your hair"

"No they are not looking at you"

"They do not care"

The voice was not loud enough,

The other words were stronger,

"They are laughing", she heard,

"They think you are fat", it said,

"Nobody likes you"

"You will never have friends"

She hid behind hoodies,

Baggy pants,

Gained weight,

The voices got louder,

Filled her with Hate,

But that voice that wasn't heard,

It never gave up,

It got louder and louder,

Waiting for her to wake up,

Then one day it yelled,

As loud as a horn,

"They do not care, if your makeup is worn"!

You do not have to do your hair, just leave it as you were born"!

"Your looks don't define you,"

"Your friends love you so much more,"

She finally heard it,

Loud and clear,

The moment came,

In the mirror.
