Self Made Fog

We once were close,
Shared all we know,
Lived and laughed,
All the unknowns,
We got so high,
That life below,
Went out of view,
Till it was all to close,

No one was surprised,
When it all came crashing down,
Everything crumbles,
On weak ground,
I don't know what happened,
I don't know what went wrong,
I tried to help you,
For so long,

I showed you I cared,
I listened to you cry,
I watched you,
As you fell from your highs,
I hoped you would change,
But you never did,
I had to walk away,
Selfish, They said,.

I feared your height,
As the years went by,
Hanging on ledge,
I always wondered why,
You could never back up,
See your unlived life,
Laying under foot,
In the mud,

Now I feel,
That friend is lost,
Somewhere out there,
In her self made fog,
I always hoped,
That someday,
You would take a look,
And see what you threw away.
